Tamako Tamai (玉井 たまこ, Tamai Tamako) is an old acquaintance of Yō Shikada who runs an okonomiyaki shop.

Etymology[]

  • The name Tamako is written in hiragana (たまこ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (玉子, 珠子, 球子, 多満子, 多摩子, 多磨子 or 多真子), it could possibly mean:

  • Tamako's surname Tamai means "ball, sphere, bullet, lens, jade, bulb, bead, gem, shot, jewel, shell, coin, bowl, pretty girl" (玉) (tama) and "well, mine shaft, pit" (井) (i).
